This program is 32 hours in length and is designed for multiple DWI offenders and/or others who have alcohol/drug related problems for which the DWI Education Program was not designed to address. The program’s purpose is to intervene in the alcohol/drug abusing lifestyles of the individual to encourage entry into treatment were indicated as well as to prevent further substance abuse related problems.
The curriculum contains information on the following topics: lifestyle issues, values, self-esteem, positive thinking vs. irrational beliefs, responsibility, physiological/psychological effects of drugs, alcoholism, chemical dependency, how drug abuse effects family members, co-dependency, Al-Anon, treatment options, l2-Step Self-Help Groups, peer pressure, relapse prevention, problem solving and action planning. The DWI Intervention/Repeat Offender program is taught over an 11-week period. This class is taught in English, no Spanish class is available.
The schedule is Friday 2pm-5pm. You must attend each Friday FOR 11 weeks. This is an in-person only no zoom meeting. IMPORTANT: You are only allowed 2 missed class sessions over the entire 11-week course. If a session is missed, an individual make-up will be scheduled, and a $75.00 fee assessed. Once you are registered in the class you are expected to attend, participate, and complete any work assigned by the next Friday class. The course completion a certificate will be given to you and a copy forwarded to the agency who referred you. TOTAL COST OF THIS COURSE IS $550.00
